August Show and Tell 2023

Glenda made a special gift/wall hanging for Shauna.  It is a recreation of a Christmas card Shauna had sent her.  The card had a hand painted figure and a hand written message:

"Sending  you a Christmas Star to guide you in the new year." Glenda appliqued the figure and the star with really cute little socks and presented the gift to Shauna during show and tell.  So Cute!  Thank  you, Glenda, it is on my Studio wall already.  (close up pic below)

"Glenda's wall hanging for me taken from the Christmas card I sent her."  So clever.
Glenda's 'Hexie" creations.  These are done with English paper piecing which is a fun technique to play with.  It is mostly done by hand and can end up with many different configurations.  Really cute, Glenda!!

This is a cute, pieced tote made by Winn.  She's hiding behind it because she wants us to see only her art work.  We'll see you next time, Winn.

Mary made this beautifully done quilt for her daughter's wedding.  The name of the pattern is Star Wedding Ring.  Really impressive quilt, colors and pattern.

Mary showed us her casserole carrier, using beautiful fabric.  It's a big square of fabric with a method of folding it so that you can carry  your casserole with one hand.  Clever.

Peg showed this T-Shirt quilt she's been working on for some time as it's a UFO.  I wish we could take a separate picture of each T-shirt represented.  As it is you can see the puzzle-like layout for the quilt.  Well done, Peggy.  We'll keep this in mind as an example of how to make a t-shirt quilt in our future.

Upside down closeup of one section of the quilt.

Back of Peggy's quilt using two fabrics as puzzle pieces.

Pat showed us this unusual and involving quilt she made for her 15 year old granddaughter.  It 's "involving" because  you want to stop and read all the words on this "pillow case and Book Quilt".  Very imaginative quit creation.

This is a close  up of the quilt made by Crystal.  The quilt was made at a retreat.  Beautifully done as usual from Crystal, wonderful colors.

Crystal made this quilt at our guild retreat - pink, green and gold hexigons.  It is a beautiful quilt, a real eye catcher.  Crystal said she would be glad to teach a class to make this quilt

This flower quilt was made for the "Flower Power" challenge.  It's using the technique for "watercolor" quilting she learned from Audrey's lesson on watercolor quilting.   Very beautiful

Green, Yellow, Brown Sunflower quilt for Deanna's aunt's wheelchair.  The quilt is reversible and so bright a cheerful.  I'm sure the recipient will be filled with joy at the gift.

Crystal made these mat, 7 of them, for the challenge for "Meals on Wheels"  Thanks Crystal.
