2022 QUILTING IN THE RED ROCKS QUILT SHOW

After canceling its scheduled 2021 quilt show because of Covid 19, Delicate Stitchers Quilt Guild is back on track and happy to celebrate its twenty-fourth anniversary by presenting its 11th biennial Quilting in the Red Rocks Quilt Show!  The location is the Grand Center, 182 N. 500 West, and will be held the weekend of April 30 & May 1.  The hours are Saturday, April 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission, as always, is FREE!

Antique, traditional and art quilts, previous challenge quilts, quilted home décor and wearable art will be on display, along with our beautiful red and white Opportunity Quilt made by Guild members and expertly quilted by Lou Gostlin. It is queen/king sized.  Tickets for the quilt will be on sale at the show.

Vendors will offer fabrics, patterns, threads, books and notions, so stop by their booths to see what they have to offer.

The Delicate Stitchers Quilt Guild was founded in 1998 by a group of women who recognized the need for an organized group that would foster the fiber art form of quilting.  Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.at theGrand Center, 182 N 500 West, inMoab.  A social “half hour” is held, starting at 6:30 p.m. This gives members a chance to catch up with each other and also provides an opportunity for members to peruse the Guild’s extensive library of quilting books.  There is a lesson given at each meeting and members bring their projects, completed or in progress, for “Show and Tell’.  A UFO (unfinished objects) challenge takes place each year.  This provides a nudge for members to finish projects that have been set aside for one reason or another.  Monthly “Saturday sew days” are scheduled so members can work on their own projects or participate in a scheduled class.  An annual themed quilt challenge will be held during the month of May at the Moab Museum.  This year’s theme is “Lotsa Dots”, and quilters must use dotted fabric on at least 50% of the fronts of their quilts.  Guild members are busily creating quilts to reflect this theme.  The Guild participates in many charitable projects, and this year we are making baby quilts for the New Hope Pregnancy Center and the Moab Regional Hospital. Membership dues are $15 per year.  All quilters, and those interested in quilting, are welcome!  For more information, contact Guild President, Crystal Day, 435-260-8537.
