Delicate Stitchers, End of year Christmas Party
This is the last guild meeting for the year 2023. We invited Yordy to our meeting as a special guest. Yordy works for the Senior Center where we meet and has been very helpful when we requested the building for special meetings, such the Saturday Sew day. Our guild has, as a year long project, created "Place Mats" which will be given to seniors who participate in the "Meals On Wheels" program. You can see some of the mats as they were shown in past blogs. The big blue bucket is filled to them brim with the place mats donated by members all year long and Yordy will be taking them with her to the Senior Center office.
This quilt from Glenda made of Peach and Violet fabric with the title "What Does the Fox Say". What does the fox say? Glenda? Cute Quilt!
This wall hanging, front and back from Peggy, she said was made a few years ago but she never had brought it for showing. Thank you for bringing it Peggy, it is a beautiful piece, wool applique. Well done.
Shauna showed us this wall hanging of different colors, cut and sewn to look like twisted ribbon. She said she had made six of these several years ago, one for herself and one for each of her children. Each one featured different fabric "ribbons" - a little complicated.
Since this was our 2023 Christmas Party, we were asked to bring quilts we had shown through the year from our Christmas themed collections. This first one from Candi is a flue and white table runner featuring elk in a snowy landscape.
In a recent Saturday Sew day, several members made this table runner of Christmas trees. This is Candi's project. Very pretty.
Candi had shown this quilt before, a center panel featuring a huge elk in the wilderness with complimentary 9 patches surrounding it. Beautifully done winter scene.
Candi displayed this large quilt featuring a Pumpkin Panel in the center. She often uses panels, then surrounds them with creative and matching multiple borders. This quilt is stunning with the pictures and colors. Thanks Candi.
Crystal showed us this set of Christmas themed small quilts - Christmas decorations. Both quilts are made from wool fabric, appliqued. Love that scene with Joseph and Mary under the Christmas Star.
This is Glenda's Christmas themed quilt, a wall hanging, Cross Stitched, of familiar Christmas characters. So attractive as a holiday wall decoration.
This contribution from Deanne, created quite a stir. There were lots of questions from the members on how they were made. These are little Jumpsuits made from tube socks and are hung on a rope for Christmas. The Gray and red is for a boy, the white one is for a girl. You can see on the back, openings for the goodies left from Santa for good little (grandkids) boys and girls. So Cute, and clever.
Audrey made this wall hanging of blue Christmas Trees in a Row at a Sew Saturday. It will make such a bright and cheery addition to her Christmas decorations.
Lou was with us from her home in Arizona and showed this 3 Yard Quilt in purples - all from her stash. The back is graduated colors from the front. Very pretty, Lou.
Lori had this stunning Christmas Tree Skirt to show us. I love the mix and arrangement of Christmas colored fabric.
Shauna was gifted this bundle of Fabric pieces so she made this small Christmas themed wall hanging. A favorite quilt pattern, a bit time consuming but it makes good use of any fabric.
Chyrrel made this pinwheels sampler. Wow, it looks complicated and so pretty. She had quilted in her shop on the longarmed quilting machine.
Cherryl also showed us this quilt she is still working on on the long arm machine. The technique is a Quilt as you go, Sew and Flip with different sized strips and textures. This is a fun way to make a quilt and can been done on so many different sizes.
Shauna showed us this wall hanging of different colors, cut and sewn to look like twisted ribbon. She said she had made six of these several years ago, one for herself and one for each of her children. Each one featured different fabric "ribbons" - a little complicated.
And for last - We held a contest to vote for our favorite Christmas costume. There just was no beating that hat worn by Marian. Really! So much fun for our Christmas party.
