September 2023, Show and Tell - Trunk Show by guest Jerry Dunbar

Glenda showed  us bag with Crosstitch Chicken made by Betty Badger.

Named Beatrice the Chicken and Little Bee.

Candi showed us two tops, as yet unquilted.  The first one - Bear Paw - with panel in turquoise was made by Bonnie Stocks.

This panel of a Elk was made by Candi.  Panels are always appreciated, blocks made to match the picture in the panel.

Audrey showed us her cute fabric bag - the pictures of the fabric don't show as well as they should, So cute.  The handle was made from a belt from the thrift store - a clever way to provide a strong bag handle.

A placemat made by Audrey for the guild challenge for the Meals on Wheels

Cathy shared her Sewing bag that was made during Sew Saturdays.  Notice the large, handy opening.  Very nice, Cathy,.

Mary showed us another example of her favorite pattern, Mariner's Compass .  This type of pattern is very difficult, made perfect because of the paper piecing method.

Mary made four placemats for herself, called "Posy" .

This complicated, paper pieced, spectacular quilt is called Black and  Yellow Dinner Plate Dahlia, a pattern from Judy Neimeyer.

Another quilt pattern by Judy Neimeyer, made for us by Mary is called "Lighthouse Harbor" made in red/ black and white.  Another show stopper, so beautiful.

Crystal shared with us this charming quilt made of wool embroidery.  a Block of the Month, it's name is "The Potting Bench".

Another beautiful masterpiece by Crystal, pictures Bees, and Behives, called "Bee Humble" in Gray, Black and Yellow.  It was quilted by Pat Byrd.

Very striking - a quilt by Deb made as a Block of the Month for Quilt Fest.  She modified the pattern. . .each star has "Sparkling Affirmations".

Shauna made this quilt from her pile of 2 1/2" squares, obviously for a girl, probably for the Linus Project charity.

Shauna also showed us placemats for the guild project for the Meals on Wheels for the Senior Center.  The fabric, so bright, is all from food pictures - drinks in cups, watermelon, bananas, coconuts, etc.

This quilt is the beginning of the Trunk Show brought to us by Jerry Dunbar, a master quilter from Colorado.  Apparently, Jerry enjoys handquilting, a very long and intense process.  There were all hand quilted.
'

This first one is a panel, colorful Circles and borders had the alphabet quilted in it.

"Bold in Pink" for 8 month baby girl.

One of a Trilogy called "Masquerade on the A Planet Neptune".  A really beautiful quilt, an original design from the imagination of the quilter, Jerry.

"Wrapped in Pink"  another sweet pink quilt for a baby girl.

This quilt was made from left over pieces and blocks  - shapes left over from the trilogy - part of which shown earlier.

Nine Patch made from scraps for a Children's Hospital Charity.

This Original Idea from Jerry is called "The Wishing Star".  He said he "Just Had to do It".  Can you imagine the hours of hand quilting that will go into finishing this?  How wonderful it will be!!!

"Spirals over Logs"  Jerry showed us up close the spiral hand quilting done over the log cabin pattern of Red, white and blue.  Very specially done in these colors for a veteran.

A student asked for help in learning a new skill.  This quilt was made as a sample of "back to basics" , hand stitched and hand quilted.

This quilt won Best in Show in Color Design and First in Contemporary pattern.  It is called "Funky Monkey" in honor of the border fabric.  Such a really fun design from the imagination of the quilter!!  Love it!!!

This quilt was made from a stash of fabric from the bottom of his closet - a Nancy Zieman Row Quilt using all red and white fabric.  Notice the intricate hand quilting, a sample of all his work.

This quilt had quite a story.  At a Monticello Guild meeting, the quilters were each given two colors to use, and then a timer was set for 3 minutes.  The quilters had till that timer went off to make a sketch for a quilt that they were then challenged to create.  The challenge for the night was called "Don't Get Hung Up".  Jerry passed around his sketch for us to see, a small 3 inch square sketch from his imagination.  This quilt is a result.  It is called "Let if Flow" and it really is a stunner.  What do  you do with a quilt like this.???

This last quilt also has quite a story.  He had a pile of scrap fabric about knee high, he said he uses nothing smaller than 2 inches, and challenged himself to use all the scraps to made a quilt with no pattern, and finish it "by Thursday".  Then he opened up this treasure for us to see.  His question was, "Does it need a border".  The voting was about half and half.  Either way, border or no, it will be a winner and so much fun!!!  He's thinking of a name for it - "Ian's Bed is Broken".  Works for me.
