Delicate Stitchers, Show and Tell, June 2023

Shauna made two quilts for sisters getting married this summer.  This first one is basically an Single Irish chain, with a "snowball" between each 9 patch.  The squares are all 2 1/2" from her scrap box.

This second quilt is from the same box of 2 1/2" squares.  This is basically a " 25 Patch with a white sash between each block.  Are  all your 2 1/2" squares used up now? Shauna.  I don't think so.

Glenda showed us this really beautiful sampler quilt made with blocks from a block exchange.  The colors are blues, purples and white on the front.  The back is a minty gray of Minky fabric.  The heart is a close up of one of the blocks, wonderful fabric.  The quilt was quilted by long arm quilter, Pat, who is in our guild.

Candi came prepared tonight with several samples of her work.  The first is a round scrap pad for her youngest son's dog.

This is a placemat for our challenge, a bird made in a class on this particular pattern.

This Wolf quilt was made using a center panel with special squares using complimentary colors to surround the wolf panel.  Beautiful

This is a table runner, log cabin pattern featuring Moose applique.  The second picture shows the back of the runner with the log cabin pattern.  A wonderful use of color on this quilt, front and back.

Candi made this baby quilt for a grand baby.  The pattern is called "disappearing hourglass" which uses a technique where you sew the original pattern - an hourglass here - then cut the block across the pattern and rearrange the sections to form another design.  This quilt is so beautiful, very unusual fabrics.  Notice the strawberries on the backing.

Peggy had an assortment of UFO's, finished placements using her favorite "Twister" pattern.  This pattern looks hard to me but it must be fun to make.

A "Twister" table runner.

A Double cut twister on this one, so the pieces are very small.

This series of small quilts shows the possibilities, using a variety of colors, makeing very different , and wonderful quilts.  Thanks, Peggy.

Mary made these two examples of her favorite "paper piecing" technique.  The first one is called "Autumn Splendor" and it won 2nd place in "Quilting on the Green" show.  She had a ribbon she had won but I didn't get a picture of it..

This s the backing for the Autumn Splendor made with Batik fabric.

Another paper pieced masterpiece from Mary.  This is called "Cattails in the Meadow" and it won a viewers choice award at the "Quilting on the Green" show.

This is a closeup of the back, the center, of the Cattail quilt.  Very intricate quilting work by Mary.

Peggy is holding up the bag that will hold the Opportunity Quilt won by some lucky winner.  This bag features scraps of fabric from the quilt and apparently it has a mistake in the makeup of the original square.  Can you see a mistake?  A mistake in a finished block is called an original design change, and this one is very pretty.
