May 2023 Delicate Stitchers Show and Tell

This Red - n - White beauty by Lou was made with 2 1/2 strips.  Notice the block is the same pattern alternating the color placement.  Below is the dramatic backing for this wonderful quilt.

This Log Cabin quilt shown by Lou, is on her guest bed at home.  It's colors: gray, red, and white make a really beautiful centerpiece for her room.  Also, it's a UFO for this year.

Wow, this stunning quilt from Pat is taken from a Judy Neimeyer Paradise in Bloom pattern.  It was done in 6 months - a UFO!  The technique was taught in a class by Mary Wakely.  The pictures below are closeups of the design, the second one of the applique flowers from the corners.  The picture of the back shows the complicated quilting design, using several colors of thread.  Beautiful work, Pat

Shown here by Crystal is her Tulip quilt made at a January retreat.  Pictured below is the back she made from extra fabric from the front - an interesting technique for  using extra fabric to make a complimentary quilt back.

From Crystal, this wall hanging quilt is a hand applique wool 9 patch made for donation.  So cute, I hope  you can read the words.

From Crystal , two table toppers for donation.  Patterns are from Quilter's Cache.  Charming patterns and colors.  Thanks Crystal.

This quilt shown by Paula took my breath away as she held it up.  So impressive.  The second picture
is a closeup of the Hunter's Star pattern.  Paula started this pattern several years ago when our guild member, Bonnie was still alive.  The fabric is heavy and warm, like flannel,

This small quilt held by Audrey is called a "Weighted Blanket" .  These can be made small like this for small children or larger, lap sized for someone larger.  It is recommended that they be made about 10% of body weight for the intended user.  I made one several years ago for a friend who is a counselor at a middle school.  She says is works well to calm her troubled students.

Audrey is holding a sweet little placemat, front and back, using the "water color" technique.

This little, personalized keepsake quilt is made using a baby dress and antique cloth shoes.  I wish the picture did it justice, it is so cute.
