Delicate Stitchers April 2023 Show and Tell

The challenge for the Moab Museum this  year is "Flower Power"  so several members this month brought flower quilts to show.  Some quilts shown were entered in the museum show in past years but they are appropriate for this year too.
This one from Peggy is called "Blue and Daisies" made for this year.  It is very pretty.

This quilt is from 2016 by Peggy.  It is called "Poppy Convergence"  This is a special quilt type method, where the original quilt is sewn, then sliced apart and then sewn back together.  Peggy did this with the main fabric, then the poppies were appliques on top.  Very impressive and a lot of concentrated effort.

The name of this quilt is "Take Time to Smell the Flowers", made in 2011.  Look closely, amidst the several 9 patches is the cat in the bottom right corner among the flowers.  This quilt is unusually created concept, very pretty.

This quilt was made in 2008, called "Postcards from Home".  Intricate and very pretty.

These two small quilts from 2020 were a challenge from Deb - 8 X 10 wall hangings, the flowers qualify for the current challenge for the museum show.

Audrey showed us a special cover she made for a check book from selvedges, another suggestion for use of selvedges.  Sewing with selvedges is a fun exercise, creative, resourceful.  I'm sorry, I didn't get the outside selvedges, just the inner checks.  Whoops.

This is a handy little item shown for us by Audrey.  It 's a "Bun Warmer" she found at a thrift store..  Notice, it's collapsible, but opens up with a slot to insert the "buns" and a tab to carry them.

Crystal shows us this flower embroidered quilt for the museum challenge, all hand embroidered, so beautifully done.  The colors here are so gentle and soft, wonderful wall hanging.

Two placemats from Crystal for the "Meals on Wheels" project.  She informed us of a web site, called Quilter's Cache Website where you get inspiration for blocks like these.

This really beautiful quilt shown by Crystal was made at a quilt retreat, designed by LaVonne Jackson, and called "Surrounded by Love".

Crystal had some left over bits and blocks she stitched together for use on the back.  Wonderful to spend time on the back, making use of extra blocks.

Glenda created this wall hanging for the museum challenge, "Daisy Field".  After the show, she will giving this to her Mom.
Thanks Glenda, great creative use of specialized fabric.

Several projects created for us by Candi.  This charming pillow has embroidered flowers and birds was made at a quilt retreat.

Candi shows us this cute little special Christmas wall hanging made from "Gnomes and Trees".

Lori made these two placemats for the Meals on Wheels project our guild is currently working on.,  Beautiful colors, thanks Lori.

Marian showed us this quilt made for the flower museum challenge.  The design and colors are amazing.  She said it was a quilt pattern taught by her friend, Manaze...

Deb taught a class tonight on putting colors together, using the artists color wheel.  It demonstrates colors from opposite sides of the wheel.  This luggage strap is  using the opposing orange (hot) with the color teal (cool).  These two colors together are especially appealing.
