September 2022 Guild Show and Tell

Shown by Pat Byrd, "Garden of Jewels" was a block of the month from Canyonlands Quilts.  Sorry, it is such a big quilt we couldn't photograph the whole thing.  This next picture is a close up of one side and the border fabric.  So Beautiful.  This is a finished UFO started in 2020 and finished 2022.

Pat showed this quilt called "Sparrows".  The quilt done for a class.  Pat is willing to teach a class on this quilt in January.   Notice the quilting detail in the third picture.

Bette Badger showed us this quilt, "Desert Sky" This is a beginner paper piecing class taught by Mary Wakely,  "Beginner??"  Very beautiful and beautiful colors.  The third picture is the backing, fabric doesn't show as well in the picture but is is dizzying.

The pattern for this quilt from Bette is called "Snowbird".  Bette says it is fun and easy pattern to do.  It was made for donation.

The whole quilt made from Flying Geese, by Crystal Day, so beautiful and colorful.  This is a large quilt for baby.

Crystal made this mini Log Cabin Quilt, cute and colorful for display at the State Guild Fest

Marian Eason made this dog portrait for her neighbor who moved away.  Her name is Ellie.  The quilt is very detailed, as Marian does with all her quilts, and 3 D looking.  Marian explained how she uses computer software to get values to convert to fabric.  I tried to get a detail to show how the quilt was created.  It's hard to get the whole effect from the photo.  Ask Marian for a private viewing.

Paula Martin showed  us the quilt she made from Kaffe Fasset fabric.  She did the quilting on her new long arm machine.  Quilting looks great, the colors are beautiful.

Paul showed us this quilt she called "Dragonfly", also quilted on her new long machine.  The last picture in the backing of the quilt, a good compliment to the extraordinary quilt.

Diane Vlien showed us this wonderful quilt, beautiful and intriguing  using the freezer paper method - a method looks like paper piecing.  The paper is not removed from the front pieces till you've finished the piecing.

Chyrrel Meyer showed this lap sized quilt made from the "Turning Twenty" book, called "Around the Block".  It was quilted on her long arm machine.  She will teach a class on this pattern at Canyonland Quilt Retreat in January, 2023

Called "The Fisher House Quilt", Peggy showed this quilt in pinks, backed with pink Minky fabric.  It will be shown at the Delicate Stitcher's Quilt Festival, entered in the Group category. Deb donated the fabric, Peggy, Lou and Paula worked on it.  Lou did the long arm quilting and Audrey did the binding.

Audrey Graham showed us Furry Raccoon, a gift for a 6-year old friend.  The super soft fur was found at a thrift store (handy!) So soft and so clever, Audrey.  It's kinda hard to get the whole effect in a picture but it is so cute.  The little one to get this gift loves Star Wars and this looks like an Ewok.

Shauna showed another in her series of baby quilts made with light colors and whites  Half Square Triangles - HST's.  "While I was cutting pieces for a baby quilt gift, I decided why not cut many more pieces and make more than one quilt."  These will be donated to the pregnancy center in town.  Maybe I'll save one for a future gift.

The backing was made from fabric the same as the front.
