May 2021 Show and Tell
Delicate Stitchers met at Rotary Park for our monthly meeting. First meeting in 2021 Sans masks. Slowly things are returning to normal.
Crystal taught a lesson on labeling quilts. She showed many innovative ways to make labels with markers, micron pens, and stamps. They can be hand or machine embroidered and be printed with an inkjet printer using the computer. In addition to a label, you can add a pocket to put a written history in. Labels add to the history and sentimental value of a quilt. Information that can be included on a label: Date, Quilt maker's name, Name of quilt pattern, Name of the recipient, Name of quilter, Location made, Occasion quilt made for, Personal message.
Here are some of the beautiful samples she showed.
Crystal then started out Show and Tell with her La Passacaglia quilt she is making with English paper piecing. Similar to a flower garden…. spectacular….with so many tiny pieces of all shapes!
Shauna showed her red white and blue quilt she is making for the Canyonland Quilts Show. Bright and cheery with very nice backing fabric as well. It will be a Quilt of Valor when she is through with the show.
Nancy showed three small quilts made for a class that Deb had at her shop. They are all versions of the sun: Under the Navajo Sun, Kissed by the Sun, and Prairie Sun. All well done and happy little quilts!
Vonda showed her memory quilt. It is needle turned applique and just came back from the quilter. The quilter was Kathy Carbine in Payson, her custom quilting was wonderful! It has 30 squares; 15 designs came from the pattern book and 15 she designed to fit her favorite memories. It is a primitive design and was fun to make.
Chyrrel showed a cute bag that she made from a panel, and some baby burp cloths that she is making for some new babies in the family. She showed how with a special needle you can make holes around the edge to crochet into. She made a crocheted edge with a single crochet and then a double crochet stitch on the next row, for a little boy. Very soft and sweet!
That's a Wrap!
Just wondering when and where your next meeting will be. New to the area and would like to join the guild. Thanks. Mary.
