Deb showed us this Darling quilt.  She named it "Solomon, the Elephant".   I call it the Elephant Safari.  She made it for her daughter-in-law for Christmas.  The DIL loves safari animals. A closeup of another one of the elephants. Marian showed us this wall hanging "Autumn Geese".  "I made this for Laura Senter when we did the fabric exchange challenge.  The circle of flying geese is paper-pieced using freezer paper.   I tried to get a closeup of the geese, here it is a little blurry.  The circle of flying geese is very inspirational, a challenging method for a quilting pattern.   This is the back of Marian's Geese wallhanging.  The piece can obviously be used both ways to hang in your house.  Beautiful work as always, Marian.   Lydia showed us this quilt she named "Sparkling Stars".  It is made with her favorite colors of purple and turquoise.  The back is in complimentary colors, the last picture her...

Peggy was in charge of the program this week and gave a lesson on the "Twista Block".  She had a book of instruction for this block, which showed a variety of uses for this technique.  Use this pattern for everything from small placemats, table runner, whole quilts of various sizes.  Also, the pattern can be made small size, medium or large for the individual pieces.  She showed us one that could be  used as a pot holder.  The next one was the same fabric in a table runner - with borders. Here are two examples of how she used this block pattern.  I know she has several more examples.  Peg will be teaching The "Twista Block" at a Sew Saturday and at a retreat.   Paula Martin, with Halloween approaching, made stuffed bats from a panel and a pattern This quilt, from Paula was "made for my Godchild who loves teal green colors".  The pattern is a "hidden 9-patch" pattern.  This pattern can look complicated as in this quilt.  It...

Shown by Pat Byrd, "Garden of Jewels" was a block of the month from Canyonlands Quilts.  Sorry, it is such a big quilt we couldn't photograph the whole thing.  This next picture is a close up of one side and the border fabric.  So Beautiful.  This is a finished UFO started in 2020 and finished 2022.   Pat showed this quilt called "Sparrows".  The quilt done for a class.  Pat is willing to teach a class on this quilt in January.   Notice the quilting detail in the third picture. Bette Badger showed us this quilt, "Desert Sky" This is a beginner paper piecing class taught by Mary Wakely,  "Beginner??"  Very beautiful and beautiful colors.  The third picture is the backing, fabric doesn't show as well in the picture but is is dizzying.
